Bert Brown - Conservative Party of Canada

Bert is the second democratically elected senator in Canada's history. He was appointed by Prime Minister Stephen Harper on July 10, 2007, and sits in the Senate as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. Bert is the founder and President of Bert Brown Land Consultants.

Bert is famous for using his tractor to plough "Triple-E Senate or else" into his neighbour's barley field, Bert Brown has been campaigning for an elected Senate for over 24 years. He is the only person to have run in all three of Alberta's senatorial elections, and was elected Senator-In-Waiting in 1998 and 2004. He has been the national chairman of the Canadian Committee for a Triple-E Senate since 1984, is the chairman of the Alberta Provincial Committee for an Elected Senate, and is past chairman of the Constitutional Conference Committee (1994-98). He was a member of the Alberta Senate Reform Task Force from 1986 to 1989 and again in 2005.

In 1992, Bert acted as special advisor on the Constitution to the Premier of Alberta during the Charlottetown Accord negotiations. That year, he was also a delegate to the Renewal of Canada Conferences (Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver) and conducted a survey of past and present elected members in Canada, reporting the results in "The Effects of Party Discipline on Canadian Government" (Canadian Parliamentary Review [Summer 1994]). He has made many presentations to government bodies, public service organizations and political groups on constitutional issues in Canada.

Outside his longstanding interest in political and constitutional reform, Bert has had a long and varied career. He attended Mount Royal College and studied civil engineering at the University of Oklahoma. From 1968 to 1999, he owned and operated Brownhill Farms Ltd, a 1,120-acre grain farm 40 kilometres northeast of Calgary. From 2001 to 2006, he was a columnist with the Calgary Herald, and in 2000, with the Calgary Sun. He is a licensed Alberta realtor and has mediation experience for estates and sale of land in estate. Senator Brown currently maintains a private pilot's license.

Bert has a long history of community and directorial involvement. He was director of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce from 1986 to 1989 and a member of the TransAlta Utilities Southern Alberta Advisory Board from 1980 to 1984. From 1980 to 1986, he was director and, for two terms, vice-chair, of the Western Irrigation District. From 1973 to 1978, he was member and, from 1978 to 1982, chairman, of the Municipal District of Rocky View Planning Commission. Senator Brown is also the founder of the Canadian Agriculture Lobby (1977). For over 30 years, he has served as director of provincial and federal constituency associations, as well as executive positions in provincial organizations. Since 2004, Senator Brown has co-chaired, with his wife Alice, the Olds College Capital Campaign. He is a member of the Canada West Foundation, the Fraser Institute and the Woodrow Wilson Centre.

In 2003, he received the Alberta Centennial Medal, an award given to Albertans whose achievements have benefited their fellow citizens, their community and their province.

Bert is married to Alice (Lancaster) in 1965. They have one daughter, Angela Susan Brown.

Ed Eggerer

Ed has built a solid reputation by providing valuable information to his clients through strong market knowledge of Airdrie and the surrounding area for the past 29 years. Ed specializes in the commercial/industrial, land acquisition & development and agricultural industry. Ed is a principal of Bert Brown Land Consultants Ltd.

Ed is the President and owner of Alberta Pacific Development Corp., which specializes in Property Management, and is an Agent of Century 21 Castlewood Agencies.

Ed graduated from the UND with a Major in History and Political Science and taught school for one year with the Winnipeg School Division. In 1978 Ed acquired his real estate license first in Manitoba and then in Alberta.

Ed is an active member of the community and has received many honors and accolades for his efforts.

Jeff Greene

Jeff has a wide array of planning experience having worked in Urban, Suburban, Regional and Rural Environments. Jeff specializes in Conceptual Planning and Project Management and is a principal of Bert Brown Land Consultants Ltd.

Jeff is the President and owner of Eventus Consulting Group Ltd., a firm that specializes in providing "tools and practices for sustainable communities", including business planning, training solutions, research and design solutions and community fiscal analysis.

Jeff is the Manager, Parks, Planning and Land Development for the City of Airdrie, Alberta. Previously, Jeff worked in the Development Compliance Branch of the City of Edmonton's Planning and Development Department; he worked for five years as a Senior Planner for the City of St. Albert and five years working for Regional Planning Commissions.

Jeff has a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) at Royal Roads University in Victoria and a Masters in Regional Planning and Resource Development (MA) from the University of Waterloo.

Jeff is married to Catherine (Robinson) and has two daughters, Emma and Ava.

Larry Konschuk

Larry has a wealth of experience in understanding the needs of the agricultural community and in managing complex planning processes. Larry specializes in land use re-zonings and subdivision applications and is an associate with Bert Brown Land Consultants Ltd.

Larry served as Reeve on the Rocky View MD Council between 1986 and 1994. After a six-year absence, Larry returned to the Rocky View MD to serve another three years.

Larry originally pursued an education in Aeronautical Engineering in Calgary, spent a number of years focusing on a career in the oil exploration business before eventually attending to a farming business on a full time basis.

Larry has three sons, one daughter and 10 grandchildren.

Richard Siemens

Richard has strong organization and interpersonal skills developed through a varied career in ministry, human resources and management. Richard specializes in Land Use Applications, Subdivisions and Project Management. Richard is a principal of Bert Brown Land Consultants Ltd.

Richard served as Pastor of three churches between 1974-1989, located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Princeton, B.C. and Airdrie, Alberta. Subsequent to this Richard began a career in manufacturing working for Palliser Furniture in Airdrie.

Palliser Furniture employed Richard from 1989 to 2008 in a number of capacities including Human Resource Manager, Purchasing Agent and in 1989 as the Production Manager of the division. In 1992, Richard successfully ran for a position on Airdrie's City Council and has served as an alderman since that time.

Richard graduated from Lethbridge Collegiate Institute in 1968 and entered the University of Lethbridge on a Pre Med Program. After completing two years Richard moved to Vancouver where he attended Northwest Baptist Theological College, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Theology Degree.

Richard is married to Carol, and has three daughters, Deanne, Darla, and Dayna. Richard and Carol also are foster parents and have been so since 2006. Richard and Carol are also involved in various ministries at Centre Street Church in Calgary.

Ron Roberts

Ron specializes in the commercial/industrial market as well as addressing client�s residential needs. Ron is a principal of Bert Brown Land Consultants Ltd.

Ron obtained his real estate license in 2002 and started selling real estate at Century 21 Castlewood Agencies (1997) Ltd. Ron was previously a Journeyman Auto Body Technician and a Licensed Vehicle. Ron acquired his Commercial Pilot's license and continues to fly his own Cessna 17.

Ron enjoys helping clients in their process of either purchasing or selling. During his five years in real estate, he has earned several Century 21 awards and most recently the Top Century 21 Award for being #11 top realtor across Canada as well as the Century 21 Double Centurion Producer for 2007.

Ron is married to Brenda.
